Introducing RideBank Thanks for your interest in RideBank! We’ve had a huge response to our calls for RideBank testers so currently aren’t accepting new card orders, however, please fill out the form below to register your interest in joining the trial once places become available. Existing cards will continue working as usual. Stay tuned for more news on RideBank coming soon! Snapper has developed a new card and payment service called RideBank for iPhone users which is now ready for beta testing. RideBank makes paying for you and your family’s travel easier than ever before. RideBank works in a similar way to online banking, with your debit or credit card linked to your account to pay for your travel – no more topping up! We’ll send you a brand new RideBank card (existing Snapper cards aren’t compatible), calculate your travel costs weekly and bill you every Tuesday evening, including a 3% credit/debit card fee. As an example of the fee, if you’re an average user spending $30 a week on bus travel, the additional bank fee would be $0.90. Is RideBank right for you? As we’re still in a beta testing stage, RideBank does come with some restrictions. Check out the pointers below to see if you fit the bill for trying it out. Are you: An iPhone user – minimum spec iPhone 4S running iOS 9. A credit/debit card holder, comfortable with a 3% bank fee – more options for payment are in the works. A pay-as-you-go bus user – RideBank doesn’t currently support passes or Total Mobility, and accessibility concessions aren’t compatible just yet either. A solo Snapper user – RideBank is one person, per card, per trip. If you usually tag another person onto the bus, they will need their own RideBank card. A bus-only Snapper user – RideBank won’t currently work in taxis, on the cable car or for parking. If this sounds like RideBank will work for you, read on! If it’s not quite your cup of tea, we understand but do keep an eye out as we will be rolling out more goodness soon. RideBank is not like a regular Snapper card. Regular Snapper cards are pre-pay and need to be topped up before you travel. RideBank cards are different, they’re linked to your credit or debit card and you’re billed automatically each week for your travel. This means you never need to top up again. What’s different No more topping up! You tag yourself on and off the bus, we calculate your travel costs and bill your credit/debit card weekly, including a 3% bank fee. You can manage all your family’s cards in one place. Use the RideBank app to view all your transactions, block any lost cards (and unblock them again when they turn up), get live in-app support and manage your account details. Trips made throughout the day will be calculated at the best fare, aggregated into a single automatic weekly payment and deducted from your nominated credit/debit card. No tag off? No problem! You can set up notifications in the RideBank app so we can remind you to virtually tag off and avoid a penalty fare. Once you’ve received your new RideBank card you can start to travel on the bus as normal: simply tag on and tag off. All transactions will be visible in the app within a couple of hours of your journey. Why beta? A select group of Snapper staff, friends and family have been trialing RideBank since September 2017, so we are confident that it accurately calculates the best fare (considering child and tertiary concessions, transfers, peak and off-peak journey rates). By being a part of the beta trial you’ll be providing valuable insights into how the service runs on a larger scale, as well as helping us improve our communication of the features before it is released to the wider public. During the trial, we will monitor the overall usage of features, and may ask you periodically to fill in a short survey. We love feedback so please let us know your thoughts on RideBank! We may also ask for volunteers to participate in a focus group or a phone call over the next few months to get a bit more feedback. Setting up RideBank Download the app (please note the RideBank beta trial is currently full and the app has been removed from the App Store). Got a Snapper account already from our website? Sign in using your existing Snapper account details. New to Snapper? Sign up using the app. (Please note the RideBank trial is currently full and we are unable to accept any new or replacement card orders) Order your new RideBank cards. Remember, regular Snapper cards aren’t compatible with RideBank, so order a card for everyone in your family who usually uses Snapper on the bus – you’ll need one person per card, per trip. Wait patiently for the courier to arrive (you’ll need to sign for your delivery). Conditions of use Because this is a beta trial, there are some conditions of use. We are looking for people who meet the following requirements: must have an iPhone (minimum spec iPhone 4S running iOS 9) must have a credit or debit card (more options for payment coming soon) must be a pay-as-you-go user (sorry, you can’t use a monthly pass or Vic Uni pass) must be bus travel only – RideBank won’t work with taxis, cable car, parking must not top up through traditional channels such as retailers, kiosks or MySnapper. Contact us If you need to get in touch with us, please flick us a message via in-app support.
