Where to buy a Snapper
Snappers can be bought from a Snapper merchant, here online, or by calling the Snapper team on 0800 555 345. Look for the "Snapper It" sign in the merchant's window, or check our most recent merchant list under the "Where can I snapper?".
All Snapper costs are in NZ Dollars.
Snapper Costs
Your Snapper will cost you $10* and then it's yours to keep (gst inclusive). You'll need to load money onto it, before you can spend with it, or pay for a bus fare . Using Snapper entitles you to a 20% discount versus the cash price of a single fare on all GO Wellington buses and on all Valley Flyer buses. *Some exceptions apply - visit http://www.gowellingtonbus.co.nz/ or http://www.valleyflyer.co.nz/
No transaction costs
There are no transaction costs when you spend with Snapper.
Feeding costs
When you feed your Snapper it will cost you 25 cents.
Feeding your Snapper online from your credit card will remain FREE at the moment.
Additional Features costs
There are two charges associated with adding features to your Snapper:
SMS text alerts: 20 cents per alert for Vodafone and Telecom users.
Auto top ups: Will soon be available, so you can top up your Snapper straight from your bank account when your Snapper balance runs out. An auto top up will cost 50 cents to set up your billing details but is a once only fee. It will only apply again if you change the amounts.
Feeding a Snapper card
To use your Snapper, you'll need to feed it - up to $300. Snapper cards can be fed at your preferred Snapper Merchant, but you can also feed online. All you need is a Snapper Feeder.
Snapper Feeder
The Snapper Feeder plugs into your USB port. You then clip your Snapper onto it, and feed the Snapper this way.
The Feeder is great for households with schools of Snappers. After one Snapper is fed, you then slip the next one onto the Feeder and begin feeding it.
Snapper Feeders cost $25.00 (gst inclusive).
Snapper USBs
A limited number of people have Snapper USBs which are great for topping up online in your time - wherever you want to. They can be attached to a key ring or mobile so your Snapper is always handy. USBs are being market tested and if the demand is there, they will become available to through our banking partners.
The USB plugs straight into your computer, you install the drivers, a simple 3 step process, and then you can feed your Snapper direct from your credit card.
